What is the difference between the BBox Basic and the BBox Pro?
The BBox Basic is designed for smaller installations, such as SMBs, agricultural applications or residential systems. The BBox Pro is designed for professional and industrial environments with more assets, higher data volumes and local intelligence.
The Pro version supports up to 50 devices, features process control signals, local buffering and real-time control, while the Basic focuses primarily on monitoring and standard data communication.
How does the BBox Pro work in conjunction with BoltEMS?
The BBox Pro acts as the local gateway within the BBOLT ecosystem. It collects data from all connected devices (such as batteries, chargers and meters) and communicates it to the central BoltEMS platform.
BoltEMS analyzes this data and sends real-time adjustments via the BBox Pro, such as for load balancing, peak shaving or trading on dynamic rates.
What happens if the Internet connection goes down?
The BBox Pro continues to operate autonomously thanks to its local intelligence and buffer memory. Measurement and control signals remain active so that all processes continue safely.
Once the connection with BoltEMS is restored, the system automatically synchronizes all data and settings without manual intervention.
How many devices can I connect to one BBox Pro?
By default, the BBox Pro supports up to 50 devices within one network. These can be batteries, inverters, chargers, PV systems or energy meters, each with their own communication protocol (Modbus RTU/TCP, P1 or API).
For larger installations, multiple BBox units can be linked in cascade to further expand capacity.
What is the maintenance and updates process for the BBox Pro?
The BBox Pro receives automatic firmware updates via OTA (Over-The-Air). These updates are performed without downtime, ensuring that the installation remains continuously operational. In addition, BoltEMS offers remote monitoring and diagnostics, making service times faster and more efficient, without the need for a technician to be physically present.
